Community Guidelines

Domatia connects landlords, tenants, and service providers. Communication on the platform must be respectful, lawful, and free of discrimination. These guidelines apply everywhere users can post or send content — direct messages, maintenance threads, listing copy, and any other communication.

What is not allowed

  • Harassment. Personal attacks, repeated unwanted contact, stalking, or intimidation.
  • Hate speech. Content that attacks or demeans a person or group based on race, color, national origin, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, age, marital status, military or veteran status, or any other protected characteristic.
  • Threats and violence. Threats of physical harm, threats to property, or any encouragement of violence.
  • Doxxing. Publishing another person’s private information — home address, phone number, employer, immigration status, etc. — without consent.
  • Illegal activity. Anything that violates federal, state, or local law, including illegal drugs, weapons trafficking, fraud, or unauthorized practice of law.
  • Spam and scams. Unsolicited promotional content, off-platform deal solicitations, phishing, or impersonation.
  • Fair-housing violations. Statements indicating a preference, limitation, or discrimination on the basis of any class protected by the federal Fair Housing Act or applicable state and local law. This includes statements like “no children,” “adults only,” “Christian household preferred,” “no Section 8,” and similar phrasings.
  • Sexually explicit or violent content. Including unsolicited sexual messages.

Enforcement ladder

  1. Warning. A first or minor violation typically results in a warning and removal of the offending content.
  2. Content removal. Material that violates these guidelines is removed. The user is notified.
  3. Suspension. Repeated or serious violations result in temporary suspension from messaging or from the platform.
  4. Termination. Egregious or repeated violations — including threats, illegal activity, or fair-housing violations after warning — result in permanent account termination. Domatia may also report illegal activity to law enforcement.

Reporting

Every message includes a three-dot menu with Report message and Block user. Reports go to the Domatia moderation team for review. Blocking a user immediately hides their messages from you and prevents you from replying to them; you can unblock at any time from your settings.

For urgent situations — a credible threat to safety, suspected child endangerment, or active illegal activity — contact local emergency services first, then report through the app or email trust@thedomatia.com.

Takedown SLA

We aim to review reports within 24 hours of receipt and to remove violating content promptly. Illegal content reported with sufficient detail is removed without delay. Users whose content is removed will be notified, and material violations of these guidelines may be escalated up the enforcement ladder.

Appeals

If you believe an enforcement action against your account was taken in error, contact appeals@thedomatia.com with your account email and a brief explanation. We will respond within 7 business days.

Fair-housing reminder

Domatia screens listing copy and tenant communications for facial fair-housing violations and refuses to publish content that appears to violate the federal Fair Housing Act or applicable state and local law. Compliance is ultimately the user’s responsibility. Visit hud.gov/fairhousing to learn more.

These guidelines may be updated from time to time. Continued use of the platform after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated guidelines.
